About the position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician position at Plains All American (PAA) involves performing scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance on various crude oil equipment and tools. The role is critical in ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations within the transportation and midstream sector, focusing on maintaining equipment such as pumps, valves, and engines. The technician will also be responsible for keeping accurate maintenance records and responding to emergency situations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on positive displacement pumps, meters, centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, tank mixers, valves, and small engines.
• Change gear lubes and monitor oil temperature in pumps.
• Inspect valves and conduct D.O.T. inspections.
• Complete administrative documents and forms required by the company and regulatory agencies.
• Maintain up-to-date maintenance records in compliance with Plains Field Operations.
• Evaluate wear and repair needs of pipeline equipment and make maintenance recommendations.
• Perform other pipeline-related duties as assigned by the Operations or Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of engine and pump equipment operations, repair, and maintenance.
• Experience with micrometers, calipers, tolerances, and clearances of equipment.
• Basic electrical knowledge and knowledge of welding procedures is a plus.
• Intermediate computer skills for generating emails and completing forms.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English to interpret manuals and service notices.
• Organized and proficient in record keeping.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Must possess or obtain operator qualifications as deemed by the Operations Supervisor.
• Complete Haz-Mat training and safety programs, meeting minimum D.O.T. requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
