About the position

The Mechanical Test Engineer II at Collins Aerospace will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining test processes for Space Systems hardware. This role involves leading corrective actions during product manufacturing and testing, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and collaborating with various engineering and manufacturing teams. The position requires a strong focus on data analysis and effective communication to meet project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze customer test requirements and provide cost estimates for test programs.
  • Interface daily with Program, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering organizations to ensure timely delivery of hardware and data.
  • Support laboratory testing of Space Systems hardware.
  • Develop and validate tooling concepts for testing processes.
  • Author and maintain operation/test procedures and standardized operation/test sheets.
  • Define test rig and facility requirements for testing activities.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Development teams for program support.
  • Review drawings and concepts to resolve producibility concerns.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field, or 6 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.
  • Experience with advanced instrumentation and data acquisition systems is required.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in common Microsoft Office software products.
  • 3-5 years of experience in testing complex mechanical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of LabVIEW.
  • 3-5 years of prior relevant experience.
