About the position

As a Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice, you will engage in a comprehensive learning program that combines classroom instruction, laboratory work, and on-the-job training. The role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various electronic, mechanical, computer, control, and robotics/automation systems within a Fulfilment/Distribution Center. You will work closely with experienced technical advisors to develop the necessary skills while adhering to health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Follow work processes closely at school and on the shop floor to ensure a safe environment while job shadowing with technical advisors.
  • Communicate and work well within a team environment both in school and in on-the-job learning (OJL).
  • Work capably with technical documentation and computer systems in both educational and practical settings.
  • Learn to perform work with material transfer conveyors under the guidance of experienced technical advisors.
  • Understand, identify, locate malfunctions, remove, replace, adjust, and return systems to service with the help of experienced technical advisors.
  • Learn about Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and collaborate with Automation Engineers in a laboratory environment.
  • Gain experience working with robotic systems alongside Robotics Engineers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Combine electronic, mechanical, computer, and control skills in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems to maintain process efficiency.
  • Perform scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance to detect and prevent issues.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve potential problems and failures systematically.
  • Install, repair, adjust, and test equipment and components to ensure proper system functionality.
  • Communicate with machine operators to detect equipment problems and analyze malfunctions.
  • Observe and incorporate safety standards and regulations for safe system operation.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet the minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test.
  • Ability to travel to attend training at one of three training sites in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, or Texas for 12 weeks.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, reading spreadsheets, and internet browsing.
