About the position

The Mechatronics Engineer at Zebra is responsible for designing and developing complex electro-mechanical systems and solutions. This role combines principles from mechanics, electronics, and computing to create automated test stations for manufacturing. The engineer will work collaboratively within a team to assess and implement design requirements, ensuring compliance with quality standards while pushing the boundaries of innovation in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops complex electro-mechanical systems/solutions and works with the assigned team to assess, implement, and execute design requirements.
  • Architects and designs complex electro-mechanical project solutions, completing all phases of system design through component fabrication and assembly.
  • Develops and applies technical and quality improvements to existing systems.
  • Creates new programs, technologies, and solutions based on novel ideas, ensuring documentation for program teams.
  • Provides technical leadership across multiple engineering disciplines and program management.
  • Recommends and implements solutions to complex issues, ensuring compliance with quality processes and standards.
  • Enhances and improves existing technologies for new solutions/programs.
  • Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools for problem analysis and solving.
  • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines.
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise and interacts with management and senior customer personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of industrial automated machine design experience.
  • Experience in SolidWorks Mechanical and Electrical, with design and drafting applied to industrial automated machinery.
  • AutoCAD Electrical or Creo experience as acceptable substitutes for SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and machining operations for cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Experience in industrial electrical control panel layout, power distributions, design, and schematic generation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in CNC Machining is preferred.
  • Experience with 3D printing is preferred.
  • Experience with GD&T, Design for manufacturing, and manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • DFA/DFM experience applied to volume production products.
  • Precision opto-mechanical assembly design and manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with ODM, JDM is a plus.
