About the position
The Med/Surg RN position involves providing comprehensive care and treatment to adult patients who are ill, injured, or recovering. The role requires assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality care within a Medical/Surgical unit. This is a full-time, temporary travel nursing position based in New York, NY, with a focus on delivering patient-centered care and maintaining accurate medical records.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history.
- Provide direct patient care, including medication administration and IV infusion.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to acute pain management needs.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures as required.
- Educate patients and families on home care practices and post-discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Epic electronic health record system.
- Adhere to ICD-10 coding standards for documentation.
Requirements
- NYS Licensed Registered Nurse
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or actively enrolled in a BSN program
- 2 years of paid Med/Surg experience
- Experience with IV insertion and phlebotomy
- AHA BLS Certification
