The Medication Aide (also known as AMAP in West Virginia) plays a crucial role in providing quality care and assistance with daily living activities for residents in the community. This position is centered around ensuring that residents receive their prescribed medications within the established scope of practice while promoting their independence and participation in community activities. The Medication Aide is responsible for creating a meaningful experience for all residents, which includes ensuring a pleasant dining experience and representing the community positively at all times. In this role, the Medication Aide assists with the administration of medications, maintains a thorough understanding of all relevant policies and procedures, and supports residents with their daily living activities. The aide is also tasked with reporting any incidents or care concerns to the appropriate personnel, performing housekeeping duties, and responding promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts. Additionally, the aide helps plan and conduct activity programs for residents, ensuring their engagement and well-being. The Medication Aide must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, documenting resident status and any changes in their care. They are also responsible for maintaining the medication cart, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with medication administration protocols.
