About the position

The Med Tech position at Waltonwood is a multifaceted role that combines care provision, medical assistance, and leadership within the community. Med Techs are responsible for administering medication, assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and ensuring the safety and independence of seniors. They work closely with Caregivers and report to the Wellness Coordinator, playing a vital role in the Resident Care team and contributing to the overall well-being of residents.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication to residents based on medical charts.
• Document medication administration and restock med carts as needed.
• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, showering, and meals.
• Participate in shift change meetings to communicate resident status and needs.
• Assist with janitorial tasks as needed.
• Act as a shift supervisor to ensure resident care needs are met.
• Support Caregivers with transfers and other duties during shifts.
• Coordinate with physicians and pharmacies for medication orders.
• Report changes in resident conditions to relevant parties.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff at all levels.
• Provide emotional support to residents, treating them with respect and dignity.
• Promote resident safety and well-being through adherence to procedures and awareness of potential dangers.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Wellness Coordinator.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• CNA license is required in North Carolina.
• Experience in caregiving or as a Med Tech is required.
• Experience working with the elderly and those with memory impairment is required.
• Strong manual dexterity and ability to follow instructions.
