About the position

The Media Buyer at Generac Power Systems is a pivotal role responsible for driving the expansion of media programs through critical analysis of available data and negotiations with media vendors. This position is integral to the design and execution of strategic campaigns and buying plans, ensuring that all activities remain within budget while optimizing performance, campaign health, and profitability. The Media Buyer actively manages a stable of assigned accounts, expanding the advertising program through networking, research, negotiation, and testing. In this role, the Media Buyer will negotiate rates to ensure maximum profitability, preparing any necessary correspondence for negotiations and maintaining relationships with outside representatives and agencies. Monitoring the profitability and performance of the current advertising schedule is crucial, as the Media Buyer will review ad performance on each media account prior to the scheduled start date of future ads to determine how buys should be made, including rates, placements, and creative aspects. Additionally, the Media Buyer will coordinate advertising schedules and create advertising contracts on assigned accounts utilizing the company's proprietary ad database. Collaboration with the Production team regarding creative needs for advertising is essential, including reviewing advertising pieces before they are publicly viewed. The Media Buyer will also inform their manager of any issues on accounts or media that could affect the overall bottom line, either immediately or in the future. Maintaining a marketing database and advertising performance metrics is part of the role, as well as testing and expanding into new media that results in profitable ROI. The Media Buyer will initiate strategies for improvement of production and other systems in the department and help implement them. Furthermore, this position involves coordinating the trafficking of all ad buying contracts, insertion orders, vendor relations, and reviewing and approving all invoices.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of Advertising or Media Experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the media industry, specifically related to direct-response advertising, preferably in television, online, and print.
  • Prior experience directly partnering with advertising network contacts.
  • Experience with Google Campaign Manager (CM360).
