About the position

The Media Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and supporting workflows that facilitate content ingest, transcoding, and fulfillment across the digital supply chain. This position involves scoping, building, launching, and providing ongoing support for these workflows, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. The specialist will also handle partner onboarding and provide both operational and technical support for the Media Operations & Technology team. This team is responsible for ingesting, preparing, quality checking (QC), and delivering content on an international scale. The Media Operations Manager will rely on the specialist to solve or escalate issues that arise, whether electronically, over the phone, or in person. In addition to these responsibilities, the Media Operations Specialist will provide operations and customer support for a portfolio of applications and products that are essential for file-based digital workflows. This includes video editing, transcoding, digital file delivery, and live streaming. The ideal candidate for this role will have a background that combines elements of broadcast engineering, information technology, and digital media, with relevant experience in Film/TV, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Digital New Media.

Responsibilities

  • Scope, build, launch, and support workflows for content ingest, transcoding, and fulfillment.
  • Handle partner onboarding and provide operational and technical support for the Media Operations & Technology team.
  • Ingest, prep, QC, and deliver content internationally, solving or escalating issues as needed.
  • Provide operations and customer support for applications and products used in digital workflows, including video editing and live streaming.
  • Support customer workflows through the operations team and/or help desk.
  • Take on additional projects requiring alignment across different internal teams for successful implementation and roll-out.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in digital supply chain, broadcast operations, or a post-production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a support or customer-facing position for a media-based company.
  • Experience with post-production software such as Avid Media Composer, Adobe Suite, and Final Cut Pro.
  • Experience with digital media file types and encoding workflows (QT, MXF, MPG, MP4, etc.).
  • Experience with file encoders such as Vantage, Adobe Media Encoder, and Cloud Services.
  • Familiarity with metadata file types (.xml, .json, .csv) and metadata schema creation/manipulation using JavaScript or other scripting languages.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and escalation skills.
  • Experience with file transcode software like Vantage or cloud-based solutions like AWS Elemental MediaConvert.
  • Experience with digital delivery methods such as AWS, Aspera P2P/Faspex, and Signiant.
  • Experience with QC Software such as GrayMeta Iris, Switch, VLC, etc.
  • Experience with MacCaption for Closed Caption creation, editing, and converting.
