About the position

Cornerstone University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member for our Media Production program. This position is a 9-month teaching role located in Grand Rapids, MI, at a theologically conservative Christian University. The primary responsibilities of the faculty include teaching, spiritual modeling and mentoring, engaging in scholarship, and serving both the university and the broader community. The Media Production program offers majors and minors in Media Production, Digital Media, and Graphic Design, as well as a major in Music Production. We are looking for candidates who can teach courses in Film and Video Production, Audio Production, Music Production, and/or Digital Media. Candidates with a broad range of experience who can teach across multiple areas, as well as those who specialize in one area, will be considered. There may also be opportunities to teach in Music or Communication Studies depending on the candidate's qualifications. In addition to teaching a variety of media production courses, other responsibilities include professional engagement in the candidate's area of specialization, academic advising, student recruitment, course and program assessment, and other departmental duties as assigned. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, providing a Christ-focused education dedicated to smaller class sizes and one-on-one training of students. Faculty members at Cornerstone University work collaboratively to mentor and teach students with a Christian worldview. Candidates should possess a master's or doctorate in a related field, or if they have a Bachelor's or Master's in relevant disciplines, they should have several years of work-related experience and a desire to pursue a graduate or terminal degree. Physical requirements for the position include the ability to teach 12 credits per semester of classes and labs on campus, use computers, operate lab equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Candidates will also be asked if they are authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill other departmental duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a related field or a Master's degree with relevant experience.
  • Ability to teach a variety of media production courses.
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Experience in professional engagement in the media production field.
