About The Position
OpenAI is seeking an experienced communications professional to join our dynamic Communications team in San Francisco, focusing on research communications. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing external communication strategies that inform the press, stakeholders, and the general public about our scientific research. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams at OpenAI to advance initiatives and shape narratives that align with the organization's goals. Reporting directly to the Product and Research Communications Lead, this position requires a blend of strategic and tactical communication skills, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science and technology, coupled with a talent for storytelling. They will be responsible for amplifying the impact of our research by developing strategies that resonate with both expert audiences and the general public. This includes forging deep relationships with relevant media, managing inbound requests regarding internal and external research, and providing counsel and support to team members across the organization. Additionally, the candidate will need to anticipate communication risks and establish effective risk mitigation strategies. This role is based in San Francisco, CA, and follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days in the office each week. OpenAI also offers relocation assistance to new employees, making it easier for the right candidate to join our mission-driven team.
