About the position
The Media Research Analyst position at Serco involves supporting military communications by performing media tracking, monitoring, analysis, and reporting. This part-time role is hybrid and requires the analyst to assess external communication materials, extract relevant articles, and compile reports for the Public Affairs Office. The position is crucial for providing daily insights to senior military leaders based on media coverage of specific topics.
Responsibilities
- Perform media tracking, monitoring, discovery, analysis, and reporting.
- Extract articles and other published content from various sources and analyze them for appropriate content.
- Assess morning DoD internal reports for information on the same topics and develop reports to be delivered by 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
- Write analysis of articles and other reports as needed based on customer requirements.
- Provide additional depth to research, analyze, and collect media coverage of SMDC for daily reports to senior leaders.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- A B.A. in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in a news media setting.
- Two years of relevant experience in media reporting and analysis.
- Experience with media monitoring software and familiarity with news reporting and the news cycle.
- Ability to read and summarize news articles and meet daily deadlines.
