About the position
The Media Research Analyst at Serco will support military communications by performing media tracking, monitoring, analysis, and reporting. This role involves assessing external communication materials and delivering daily reports based on topics provided by the SMDC PAO. The position is hybrid, requiring both in-office and remote work, and focuses on providing insights to senior military leaders.
Responsibilities
- Extract articles and published content from various sources and analyze them for appropriate content.
- Assess morning DoD internal reports and develop reports to be delivered by 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
- Write analysis of articles and reports as needed based on customer requirements.
- Provide additional research and analysis of media coverage related to SMDC for daily reports to senior leaders.
- Utilize daily reports in decision-making regarding public release and content of speaking engagements.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in a news media setting.
- Two years of relevant experience in media reporting and analysis.
- Experience with media monitoring software and familiarity with news reporting and the news cycle.
- Ability to read and summarize news articles and meet daily deadlines.
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule with minimal supervision and attention to detail.
