About the position
The Media Research Analyst position at Serco involves supporting military communications through media tracking, analysis, and reporting. This part-time hybrid role requires the analyst to assess external communication materials, identify media coverage, and deliver daily reports to senior military leaders. The position emphasizes the importance of timely and accurate media analysis to aid decision-making in public affairs.
Responsibilities
- Perform media tracking, monitoring, discovery, analysis, and reporting.
- Assess external communication materials and identify coverage for reports.
- Utilize media monitoring software and research methods to analyze content about SMDC.
- Extract articles and published content from various sources and analyze them for relevance.
- Develop daily reports based on findings from morning DoD internal reports.
- Write analyses of articles and reports as needed for the customer.
- Provide additional research and analysis to the Public Affairs Office regarding media coverage of SMDC.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in a news media setting.
- Two years of relevant experience in media reporting and analysis.
- Experience with media monitoring software and services.
- Familiarity with news reporting, journalism, and the news cycle.
- Ability to read and summarize news articles effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule with minimal supervision.
