About the position

The Medicaid Analyst at Winchester Public Schools acts as a crucial liaison between the Special Education and Finance Departments, focusing on coordinating reimbursable services for qualifying expenses. This role involves collaboration across various departments to ensure access to Medicaid and FAMIS programming, serving as the primary contact for all Medicaid program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement division procedures and processes pertaining to Medicaid documentation and reimbursement, adhering to all applicable state and federal laws and requirements.
  • Coordinate all billable services including maintaining supporting documentation and provider qualifications.
  • Coordinate with division departments, school staff, and state vendors to compile claims and reconciliation reports.
  • Audit reports for accuracy.
  • Complete all Medicaid eligibility matches, quarterly reporting and cost settlement activities.
  • Oversee and administer Medicaid compliance programs.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Medicaid programmatic requirements by providing staff training, identifying issues and/or needs, problem solving to resolve issues and/or needs, and advocating on behalf of the division to maximize division reimbursements.
  • Work with finance personnel to monitor and track expenditures and reimbursements, resolve discrepancies, and prepare reports.
  • Identify and monitor trends in use of reimbursement funds and make program adjustments recommendations.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with internal and external contacts including, but not limited to, Student Services, Special Education, Finance, Technology, Human Resources, and Operations departments, school administrators, service providers, state personnel, health care providers, private agencies, families and the general public.
  • Stay abreast of changes and developments in the Medicaid reimbursement program and attend Medicaid meetings conducted by state, federal agencies and the National Alliance of Medicaid in Schools.
  • Perform other finance or monitoring related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in Medicaid reimbursement processes and compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
