About the position

The Medicaid Program Policy Analyst position within the Division of Medicaid's Policy and Innovation team is focused on reviewing state and federal regulations, conducting research, writing policies, and making recommendations for program changes and coverage. The role involves assisting with federal reporting, amending the Idaho Medicaid state plan and waivers, and drafting changes to Idaho rules and statutes. This position offers a work-life balance with a Monday to Friday schedule, holidays off, and potential telework opportunities after probation and training.

Responsibilities

  • Review state and federal regulations related to Medicaid.
  • Conduct research and analyze quality, quantity, and cost-effectiveness of programs.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures for Medicaid programs.
  • Initiate and monitor the implementation of rules and regulations.
  • Ensure program compliance with laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Provide instruction to staff on policies and claims processing procedures.
  • Advise recipients, providers, and staff on program requirements.
  • Act as a liaison with related programs.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of health care delivery systems, typically gained through college courses and three years of professional experience.
  • Good knowledge of medical laws and regulations related to health care, with at least one year of experience interpreting Medicaid regulations.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology, gained through coursework or experience in a health care environment.
  • Experience planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating a health care-related program for at least one year.
  • Experience analyzing cost-effectiveness of health care delivery methods for at least one year.
  • Experience interpreting and applying laws and regulations, with at least one year of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves
