About the position

The Medical Administrative Assistant Instructor at the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT) is a part-time role responsible for teaching adult students in the Certified Medical Assistant Program. The instructor will cover foundational and specialized topics, utilizing a standardized curriculum to enhance students' skills in medical administrative procedures, ethics, compliance, and patient care. The position requires engaging lesson plans and fostering a supportive learning environment for a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans and present organized lectures and classroom activities.
  • Promote students' development of hard and soft skills, including communication and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with team members to support adult learners using various teaching techniques.
  • Incorporate real-world career experiences into class discussions to keep content relevant and engaging.
  • Develop and provide administrative support for Allied Health internship programs and community employment relationships.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with a diverse staff and student population.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of full-time practical experience as a Medical Office Assistant.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Must meet NYSED teaching credentialing requirements and be willing to obtain NYS teaching license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience instructing adult learners.
  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant certification.
