About the position

The Medical Administrative Assistant/Patient Care Coordinator at The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional administrative support and patient care in a dental sleep medicine practice. The position involves managing patient appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring efficient office operations while delivering outstanding customer service to enhance patient experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage patient appointments, ensuring all documents are complete and accurate.
  • Provide timely communication with patients about their treatment plans and next steps.
  • Verify patient insurance benefits for coverage of dental sleep medicine treatments.
  • Process claims and ensure accurate billing procedures are followed.
  • Ensure patient records are accurately maintained, including medical history and treatment plans.
  • Greet and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and direct inquiries to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Coordinate patient flow to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts and ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provide information to patients regarding procedures, treatments, and office policies.
  • Handle patient inquiries and concerns in a compassionate and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with physicians and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assist in preparing and processing medical forms, records, and correspondence.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a medical administrative and patient care coordinator role in a medical/healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance, billing, and coding practices is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, practice management systems).
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach with a strong desire to help people.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic office procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling patient information.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in patient scheduling, insurance verification, and billing preferred.
  • Customer service experience of 1 year (Preferred).
