About the position

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Golden Valley Clinic. This full-time position involves providing quality patient care under the direction of physicians and other clinical team members. The role includes a variety of clinical tasks, patient interactions, and administrative duties, contributing to the overall health and well-being of patients. The Medical Assistant will work primarily day shifts with potential for evening and weekend hours as the clinic grows.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned clinical tasks under the direction of a physician or other providers, including administering medications, injections, and immunizations.
• Set up for and provide direct assistance to physicians and other licensed care providers during medical examinations and procedures.
• Perform specimen collection, including blood draws, sputum samples, and urine samples.
• Conduct hearing and vision screens and developmental testing.
• Review patient information and enter it into the patient medical record competently.
• Perform basic patient care activities, including placing patients in rooms and taking vital signs.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma or Associate's Degree from an accredited Medical Assistant school or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
• Active certification by the AAMA or active registration by the AMT at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within the first three months of employment.
• Bilingual in English and at least one other language commonly spoken by HHS patients.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Months of related experience or HHS externship.
