Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in the examination and treatment of patients.
• Interview patients and measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
• Record patient information on charts accurately.
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, co-workers, and the practice manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent training or experience required.
• Must possess at least one of the following licenses/certifications: Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or Basic Life Support certification.
• Medical Assistants hired after 7/1/16 must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of employment.
• BLS certification is required for all Medical Assistants.
• CNA, LPN, or EMT licenses must be from Florida.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual preferred.
• EKG and Phlebotomy Certifications for employees with a CNA license.
