About the position
Greater Family Health is a multi-site federally qualified health center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services within the Chicagoland area. Our mission is to provide quality, affordable health care for all including those without the ability to pay. We currently have health centers in DeKalb, Elgin, Franklin Park, Hanover Park, McHenry, Palatine, Streamwood, Sycamore, and Wheeling. We are financially and programmatically stable and are continuing to grow. We are Joint Commission Accredited and are PCMH Certified. This is a great job opportunity for a Medical Assistant who is either experienced, a recent graduate, or is looking to get back into the medical field. In this position, you'll be able to contribute to your community and make an impact in a patient's life.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care and follow-up
- Assist providers and nursing staff
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for examination and treatment
- Perform and document daily setup, stocking, maintenance of supply levels, and cleaning of clinical areas and equipment
- Process and label laboratory specimens for reference laboratories and complete lab requisitions
- Set up and perform all CLIA waived lab tests
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and risk management standards
- Provide patient education as directed by provider
- Retrieve laboratory and other test results for provider review
- Follow all Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) policies and procedures
- Provide care in an age-appropriate manner according to specialty
- Report to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time
- Engage in training, consultations, and supervisions
- Travel to other locations as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Current BLS CPR Certification
Nice-to-haves
- Current Medical Assistant Certification is preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required
