About the position
The Medical Assistant position at Austin Regional Clinic involves supporting provider practice by assisting with direct patient care duties under the supervision of nursing leadership. The role includes responsibilities such as patient call backs, medication refill requests, performing diagnostic testing, and maintaining medical equipment, all while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and promoting the clinic's mission.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and document vital signs.
- Administer medication under physician's direction.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as EKGs and spirometry.
- Assist with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
- Review EPIC triage call in basket for callbacks.
- Inform patients of normal lab results from the result note in basket.
- Ensure patient rooms are stocked with supplies and clean.
- Handle dirty laundry and maintain cleanliness of patient rooms.
- Follow directions from nursing team leader or supervisor.
- Provide patients with educational materials as directed.
- Adhere to company policies including OSHA and HIPAA compliance.
- Work holiday shifts as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant experience or CNA/EMT/PCT experience providing direct patient care.
- Graduate of a medical assistant program.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months or more experience as a Medical Assistant.
