About the position
As a Medical Assistant in the Ambulatory Orthopedic Clinic at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care. This position involves performing routine clerical and clinical tasks to assist physicians and other licensed providers in delivering cost-effective healthcare. The Medical Assistant will also be involved in COVID-19 testing, which requires the ability to stand for long periods and perform tasks such as swabbing patients. Responsibilities
- Perform routine clerical and clinical tasks within the clinic.
- Assist physicians and other licensed providers in providing patient care.
- Take and record vital signs of patients.
- Process referrals and schedule appointments for patients.
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality.
- Support clinical team in achieving annual wellness care and transitional care documentation.
- Communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds under stressful conditions.
- Ensure compliance with safety practices and infection control policies.
- Conduct COVID-19 testing and manage specimen collection.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized medical assistant program.
- One (1) year of medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Some positions may require an Office Lab Assistant License within sixty (60) days of hire.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent Primary/Orthopedic Clinic experience as a medical assistant (preferred).
- Minimum three (3) years of experience performing preliminary physical tests, charting, and taking vitals (preferred).
- Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and basic medical terminology.
- Skill in procuring specimens and performing noninvasive procedures.
