About the position

The Medical Assistant and Front Desk Floater role is a full-time position that combines clinical and administrative responsibilities within a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and compassionate, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Physician or other medical personnel with necessary tasks and keep the physician on schedule.
  • Perform routine tests on patients such as urinalysis.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including height, weight, pulse ox, and manual blood pressure; document patient complaints and histories while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and notifying the manager of items to be ordered.
  • Schedule patients for appointments according to individual provider guidelines.
  • Perform various duties as needed, such as confirming appointments, making lab reminder calls, and preparing charts.
  • Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere at the front desk.
  • Handle phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages.
  • Process patient registrations and verify insurance information; collect co-pays.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; prefer Medical Assistant Program Graduate.
  • 6 months experience in patient care as a Medical Assistant or performing electronic order entry as a qualified ABR-OE.
  • Prefer Registered Medical Assistant certification, but not required; internship/externship experience may be accepted in lieu of required experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to interact professionally with healthcare practitioners and patients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and observe relevant sources.
  • Ability to work as a team player and maintain composure in difficult situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • EPIC knowledge is a plus.
  • 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
