About the position

The Medical Assistant (MA) position at UnitedHealth Group involves performing patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of a clinician or RN, ensuring safe and appropriate patient care. The MA will assist with minor medical and surgical procedures, as well as handle various clerical and administrative duties related to patient care. This role requires working 4 ten-hour shifts across two clinic locations in Wheat Ridge and Denver, Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service.
  • Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards.
  • Anticipate clinician's needs and carry out orders.
  • Check patients' arrival status and escort them from waiting areas to exam rooms.
  • Obtain, record, and report vital signs and other pertinent patient information to RN, LVN, or clinician.
  • Perform various medical procedures and medication administration as appropriate for certification.
  • Perform phlebotomy, process lab specimens, and maintain lab specimen logs as appropriate.
  • Assist clinician with procedures as requested.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all procedures.
  • Maintain and clean exam and treatment areas, specimen processing areas, and medical equipment.
  • Complete or assist with the completion of appropriate forms, tracking, transport, etc.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • 6+ months of relevant healthcare experience including Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomist, Dialysis Technician, EMT, etc.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel to clinic sites.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of experience in an ambulatory care setting or military experience as a Medical Assistant/EMT.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience.
  • Experience in primary care or specialty care such as pediatrics, pain management, cardiology, urology, orthopedics, oncology, senior care, obgyn, urgent care.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
