About the position

The Medical Assistant at McLaren Bay Region is responsible for providing excellent patient care under general supervision. This role involves performing various medical procedures and tests to assist in the examination and treatment of patients, as well as handling clerical duties to maintain efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing or assisting in medical procedures and tests.
• Take and record vital signs of patients.
• Administer injections and perform venipuncture as needed.
• Prepare examining rooms by turning on computer terminals and stocking supplies.
• Respond promptly and courteously to all customers' needs.
• Cooperate and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months experience as a medical assistant.
• OR completion of a medical assistant, emergency medical technician, nurse assistant, licensed practical nurse, or armed services medic program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire for clinics with Rural Health Designation.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification may be required at management discretion.
• Experience with electronic medical records.
• One year of experience working in a medical office with multiple providers.
• Previous experience in a medical office of the same specialty.
