About the position

The Medical Assistant - Behavioral Health position at Urban Health Plan, Inc. is designed for a dedicated individual who will support a team of healthcare providers in delivering quality care to adult and pediatric patients in a behavioral health setting. Responsibilities

  • Prepares examination rooms, stocks inventory, and sterilizes instruments.
  • Obtains vital signs, chief complaint, and medical history, accurately recording them in medical records.
  • Assists providers during all aspects of exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Registers and verifies patient demographics.
  • Schedules appointments and recalls patients for required services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • 0-1 year of related experience in the healthcare sector, ideally working with a behavioral health population.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
  • Proficiency with computers and software including EMR systems (e.g., ECW).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work on a team and independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-volume environment.
