About the position

The medical assistant is responsible for assisting the physician with patients by providing patient care according to established standards and practices. Deliver medical care services to patients in an efficient and professional manner. MA's must have the capabilities to perform all aspects of typical MA duties. MA's are expected to proactively take initiative and serves as an informal leader with the responsibilities related to clinic functions.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming reason for visit.
  • Prepares patients for examination by taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting patient history summary.
  • Performs on-site testing and procedures, per physician's order.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records and other patient information.
  • Accurately records patient information, measurement data, procedure documentation and test results in electronic medical record, securing workstation when finished.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Participates in quality management program.
  • Performs Front Office procedures to schedule, check in and process patients.
  • Performs Start of Day and End of Day procedures, as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks for which training has been provided, as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned within scope.

Requirements

  • Completion of a certified Medical Assistant training program.
  • CPR Certification
  • Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting.
  • Bilingual: English/Vietnamese (Required)

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable in general EMR/EHR systems is preferred.
