The Medical Assistant at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of medical care to clinic patients. In this role, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for timely and thorough completion of medical documentation upon patient intake, adhering to established standards for documentation. This includes the ability to give immunizations and utilize computer software for patient documentation. The Medical Assistant will also be expected to communicate electronically with patients as needed, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures regarding patient medications and testing. Responsibilities

  • Assist the provider in the delivery of medical care to clinic patients.
  • Maintain high customer service skills with all patient interactions.
  • Complete medical documentation upon patient intake accurately and thoroughly.
  • Administer immunizations as required.
  • Utilize computer software for patient documentation and provide necessary documentation to patients.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures for patient medications and testing, including refilling medications as appropriate.
  • Communicate electronically with patients when desired, following established policy standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Customer Service / Patient Focus experience.
  • BLS obtained through the American Heart Association.
