About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Wellstar MCG Health involves performing patient care duties under the supervision of licensed providers. The role is essential in ensuring efficient patient intake, assisting in clinical procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized outpatient care environment. The Medical Assistant will engage with patients, perform clinical tasks, and support healthcare providers in delivering quality care.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a licensed provider or RN.
• Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and medical history from patients.
• Update allergies and medications in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Perform diagnostic tests and collect specimens as needed.
• Assist in emergencies as directed by licensed providers or RNs.
• Document patient interactions and requests in PowerChart.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and medical supplies.
• Administer vaccines and injections as per site-specific protocols.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures, providing education and emotional support to patients.
• Perform front office duties such as registration, scheduling, and payment collection.

Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assisting Certificate or Associate's degree in Medical Assisting (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant by AAMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or MedCA required upon hire.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an outpatient setting, preferably in the relevant specialty.
• Skills in phlebotomy, EKG, and manual blood pressure measurement.
