About the position

The Medical Assistant Certified/Registered position at SSM Health involves providing assistance with the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or healthcare provider. Responsibilities

• Assists with treatments ordered by the provider as supervised by the provider or registered nurse.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
• Performs basic materials management functions including ordering and stocking of supplies.
• Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• Documents the provider's encounter with patients, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.
• Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or equivalent certification from recognized organizations.
