The Medical Assistant position at MSO - Texas Bone & Joint involves providing clinical expertise to ensure high-quality, efficient care for patients. Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and canceling patient appointments
  • Checking-in and checking-out patients
  • Entering charges and payments
  • Answering the telephone
  • Verifying patient insurance and demographics
  • Collection of co-payments/coinsurance and personal balances
  • Performing selected administrative duties and assisting nursing staff
  • Collecting patient specimens
  • Taking patient histories and vital signs
  • Preparing exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
  • Giving injections, and applying casts, splints, and dressings, as applicable
  • Preparing and maintaining supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
  • Assisting physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
  • Coordinating continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities
  • Participating on a team for data collection, health outcomes reporting, audits and programmatic evaluation related to Patient Centered Medical Home

Requirements

  • One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical Assistant Certification (NCRMA certification/ABR required)
  • Acceptable certifications include RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or OE credentials
  • Medical Assistants who recently graduated must obtain certification within 60 days of employment
  • Candidates with one year of experience without certification must obtain certification within one year of hire date
