Medical Assistant - Desert Region

About the position

The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Community Health Clinics is seeking dedicated Medical Assistants to support their desert region, which includes cities such as Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indio, and Coachella. The role involves providing both administrative and medical support services under the guidance of licensed medical professionals, ensuring high-quality patient care and the smooth operation of the department.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients/patients at reception and assist them in completing necessary documents and applications.
• Interview clients/patients to gather basic health-related information such as health status and healthcare needs.
• Register clients/patients and obtain/verify demographic information.
• Assist patients in ambulation and transfer, and maintain medical charts.
• Perform routine clerical tasks including typing, data input, and filing.
• Verify patient's health insurance coverage and assist with payment recording.
• Submit treatment authorization requests into the EPIC database and follow up on their status.

Requirements

• Current and valid BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Medical Assistant certification is highly preferred.
