Responsibilities
- Assist physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients.
- Manage patient flow and perform various diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and taking vitals.
- Act as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification.
- Document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
- Remain proficient in the use and documentation requirements within information technology systems.
- Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth operations of the office.
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program with a minimum of 330 hours of instruction for NJ applicants.
- Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting preferred.
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
