About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Mountain Park Health Center is focused on providing high-quality patient care in a family practice setting. The role involves ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, maintaining patient privacy, and performing various clinical tasks to support healthcare providers. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for patient documentation, rooming patients, managing electronic health records, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures HIPAA compliance and patient privacy in accordance with law, policies and procedures.
  • Completes module/training and demonstrates advanced understanding of appropriate documentation and medical records.
  • Maintains CLIA-waived testing competency and ensures compliance with all checking and documentation of CLIA waived testing.
  • Completes chart prep for assigned provider daily, including review of outstanding care items and insurance verification.
  • Rooms the patient and documents in the EHR accordingly, including obtaining and documenting chief complaint and vital signs.
  • Manages EHR tasks for their assigned care team daily, including Labs/DI's, TE's, Documents, Actions and Consult Pending.
  • Cleans patient care areas in accordance with infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Verifies, administers, and documents all medications and/or immunizations given, including lot # and location.
  • Maintains knowledge of immunization integrity and quality control guidelines.
  • Restocks department supplies appropriately in exam rooms and central supply.
  • Performs quality controls and routine cleaning on medical equipment to meet quality assurance and infection control guidelines.
  • Handles sterile and dirty instruments according to processing procedures.
  • Utilizes and/or schedules interpreter services as needed by the patient.
  • Interacts with internal staff and external contacts in a culturally competent and respectful manner.
  • Ensures biohazard and sharps containers are properly disposed of or emptied.
  • Checks fax outbox to ensure there are no failed faxes for assigned provider.
  • Follows established EHR and clinical workflows.
  • Attends meetings and huddles as scheduled by the department.
  • Participates in preparing department for internal and external site audits.
  • Maintains training, skills and certifications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or certification
  • Current CPR Certification
