About the position
The PRN Medical Assistant position at Mercy Clinic Float Pool involves providing essential support to healthcare providers by preparing patients for visits, assisting with in-office testing, and coordinating care plans. This role is designed for individuals who are compassionate and professional, with a focus on delivering excellent patient care in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for visits by completing the Advanced Standard room process, including entering chief complaints and taking vital signs.
- Review patient history and allergies, and complete thorough medication reconciliation.
- Work with the Encounter Guide to address open care gaps such as fall risk and cancer screenings.
- Recheck elevated blood pressures and complete necessary documentation in Epic for preventative visits.
- Assist with in-office testing, including drawing blood, conducting mental status exams, and performing EKGs.
- Administer vaccines and injections within the scope of practice.
- Schedule follow-up appointments as needed per office policy.
- Collaborate with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate the delivery of care plans.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience.
- For Certified Medical Assistant: Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA).
