About the position
The PRN Medical Assistant at Mercy Clinic Float Pool plays a crucial role in preparing patients for their visits, assisting with in-office testing, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure effective delivery of care. This position emphasizes compassionate care and professionalism, aligning with Mercy's mission to provide a healing ministry through innovative healthcare practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for visits by completing the Advanced Standard room process, including entering chief complaints and taking vital signs.
- Review patient history and allergies, and complete thorough medication reconciliation.
- Work with the Encounter Guide to address open care gaps such as fall risk and cancer screenings.
- Recheck elevated blood pressures and complete necessary documentation in Epic for preventative visits.
- Assist with in-office testing, including drawing blood, conducting mental status exams, EKGs, and point of care testing.
- Administer vaccines and injections within the scope of practice.
- Schedule follow-up appointments as needed per office policy.
- Collaborate with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate care delivery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) is required.
