About the position

The Medical Assistant/Front Office Coordinator at LifeLong Medical Care plays a crucial role in supporting community healthcare by being part of a patient-centered care team. This position involves assisting medical providers with clerical and clinical tasks, managing front office operations, and ensuring efficient patient flow in a community health center setting. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and previous medical office experience, contributing to the delivery of urgent and primary care health services.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize an Electronic Health Record system to document patient registration, vital signs, and health history.
  • Assist in patient flow by timely rooming of patients and maintaining awareness of exam room availability.
  • Provide back-up for the front desk with answering telephones and medical reception tasks.
  • Perform patient discharge activities, including completion of referral forms and appointment scheduling.
  • Prepare exam rooms before and after patient examinations according to infection control procedures.
  • Perform injections of vaccines and basic in-clinic lab tests as ordered by the provider.
  • Assist practitioners during examinations and provide patient education as instructed.
  • Maintain adequate stock of medical supplies and ensure cleanliness in clinic areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a community clinic or medical office setting.
  • Current CPR certification from an AHA approved organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet usage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field.
  • Certification from AAMA, AMT, or CCMA.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EPIC) and Electronic Practice Management systems.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including the homeless and those with HIV/AIDS.
