About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Adventist Health involves assisting in the planning, provision, and evaluation of nursing care for patients. The role requires coordination with other healthcare disciplines under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN). The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with staff to achieve patient care objectives and address clinical problems as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients.
• Coordinate nursing care activities with other healthcare disciplines under the guidance of an RN or LVN.
• Work as a team with other staff members to achieve patient care objectives.
• Identify and seek solutions for clinical problems and report them to the affected department.
• Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
• Maintain a patient recall system, including continuity of care log for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
• Assist the physician with office procedures, preparing instruments needed for suturing, providing equipment and solutions for biopsies, and providing supplies needed for splinting.
• Obtain vital signs and report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
• Perform venipunctures as ordered.
• Perform audiometry and vision testing.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent (Preferred).
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience (Preferred).
• Medical Assistant (CMA) certification (Preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Health Care Provider certification (Required).
• Successful completion of audiometry and vision training or have a certificate from CHDP within six months of hire (Preferred).
• Phlebotomy certificate (Preferred).
