About the position
The Medical Assistant position at UChicago Medicine's Northbrook clinic involves providing a wide range of patient care services under the supervision of healthcare professionals. Responsibilities
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and assisting patients as needed.
- Performs clerical duties such as sending/receiving medical records, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance coverage.
- Maintains a clean and organized environment by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and restocking supplies.
- Respects and promotes patient rights and responds appropriately to emergency codes.
- Adheres to clinical medical assisting responsibilities including checking vital signs, assisting in minor surgeries, and handling laboratory procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Phlebotomy training and experience, if required by practice.
- Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office/facility.
Nice-to-haves
- Considerable skill in verbal communication and organizing work.
- General working knowledge of PC applications like Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Experience with computerized appointment scheduling systems.
- Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion and courtesy.
