About the position

Greater Family Health is a multi-site federally qualified health center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services within the Chicagoland area. Our mission is to provide quality, affordable health care for all including those without the ability to pay. We currently have health centers in DeKalb, Elgin, Franklin Park, Hanover Park, McHenry, Palatine, Streamwood, Sycamore, and Wheeling. Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care and follow-up
  • Assist providers and nursing staff
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for examination and treatment
  • Perform and document daily setup, stocking, maintenance of appropriate supply levels, and cleaning of all clinical areas and equipment
  • Process and label laboratory specimens for area reference laboratories; accurately complete lab requisitions
  • Set up and perform all CLIA waived lab tests
  • Ensure compliance with Greater Family Health quality assurance and risk management standards
  • Provide patient education as directed by provider
  • Retrieve laboratory and other test results and submit for review by provider as necessary
  • Follow all Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) policies and procedures
  • Provide care in age-appropriate fashion according to specialty
  • Report to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time and fully prepared
  • Engage in all offered training, consultations and supervisions
  • Travel to other locations as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Current BLS CPR Certification

Nice-to-haves

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification is preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required
