About the position
Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join their Old Saybrook Care Center. This role is essential in providing remarkable patient experiences and supporting the clinical team in delivering comprehensive care. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and maintaining accurate medical records using Epic EMR. The position emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight).
- Document patient information accurately using Epic EMR.
- Update patient's medical history, including medication lists.
- Document all patient phone calls and inform patients of test results under provider guidance.
- Familiarity with the prior authorization process.
- Ask appropriate triage questions and record responses accurately.
Requirements
- Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred).
- At least one year of Medical Assistant experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
- EMR experience is ideal; Epic experience is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
