About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Sutter Gould Med Foundation provides essential clinical and clerical support to healthcare providers and the patient care team. This role is focused on ensuring high-quality patient care through various back office and patient-related tasks, facilitating smooth workflows, and assisting in the implementation of medical plans. The position requires effective communication and technical skills to build trust and cooperation with patients and their families, all while working under the guidance of clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and clerical support to healthcare providers and patient care teams.
• Assist in implementing the medical plan of care for patients.
• Perform back office tasks to ensure smooth patient workflow.
• Prepare patients for examinations and administer injections as needed.
• Take vital signs and document patient information accurately.
• Communicate sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program as specified by the Medical Board of California or equivalent Sutter Health training.
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.
• MA Certification by a California Medical Board recognized agency is required for incentive eligibility in 2025.
• 1 year of recent relevant experience in a medical setting.
• General knowledge of medical procedures, human anatomy, and medical terminology.
• Competent in basic Medical Assisting skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
