About the position

The Medical Assistant II position at West Roseville Family Medicine involves providing both clinical and clerical support to healthcare providers and members of the patient care team. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care by performing a variety of back office and patient-related tasks. The Medical Assistant will help facilitate smooth patient flow and assist the patient care team in implementing medical plans of care. All duties are performed under the direction of a clinician, ensuring adherence to established medical protocols and standards. In this role, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, administering injections, and managing various administrative tasks. The position requires a solid understanding of medical procedures, human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. The Medical Assistant will also need to demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds. Time management and organizational skills are crucial, as the Medical Assistant will need to prioritize assignments and work efficiently within standardized operating procedures to meet deadlines. Additionally, proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR), is necessary for managing patient information and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support by taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations.
  • Administer injections and assist with various medical procedures as directed by clinicians.
  • Perform clerical tasks to support the patient care team and ensure smooth workflow within the department.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to explain medical procedures and care plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to implement medical plans of care and achieve departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience in a medical assistant role.
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Competence in basic Medical Assisting skills such as taking vital signs and administering injections.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
