About the position

The Medical Assistant at CenterWell Senior Primary Care serves as the first point of contact for patient care, responsible for both administrative duties and direct patient care. This role involves performing a variety of tasks, including taking vital signs, administering injections, and maintaining examination rooms, while collaborating closely with physicians and nurses to ensure high-quality care for patients, particularly seniors.

Responsibilities

  • Discussing symptoms with patients
  • Gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system
  • Taking vital signs
  • Giving injections
  • Performing diagnostic tests
  • Collecting specimens
  • Drawing blood
  • Sterilizing and cleaning equipment
  • Maintaining examination rooms
  • Collaborating closely with physicians and nurses
  • Delivering direct patient care based on active certification
  • Making decisions based on area/department policy and methods for completing assignments
  • Identifying work expectations and quality standards with some latitude over prioritization/timing
  • Following standard policies/practices with opportunities for interpretation/deviation

Requirements

  • Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certified
  • Screening for Tuberculosis (TB) as part of the company's program

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina candidates require certification)
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 1+ years MA experience
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
