About the position
As a Medical Assistant at VillageMD, you will play a crucial role in providing patient support and communication, ensuring an exceptional patient experience. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for their appointments, performing various medical tasks, and facilitating effective communication to enhance patient satisfaction and trust.
Responsibilities
- Perform point-of-care laboratory tests, EKGs, suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and other patient care activities.
- Collect and document vital signs, histories, and screenings.
- Authorize prescription refills as directed.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up appointments following established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate kindness and compassion in all patient interactions.
- Effectively communicate unexpected schedule delays to patients and assist with patient comfort during delays.
- Participate in brand marketing to engage and increase patient volume.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider.
- Provide instruction to patients regarding medications and diet.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant or eligible within 90 days of hire.
- 1 year of experience preferred.
- Bilingual required.
- Phlebotomy experience required.
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred; required within 90 days of employment.
- High School Diploma/Equivalency required.
- Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred.
