About the position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at Avera plays a pivotal role in providing direct patient care and clerical support within an internal medicine clinic. This position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing compassion and teamwork to enhance patient health outcomes. Successful candidates should possess a medical assistant certification and demonstrate knowledge of patient care principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency.
• Work collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status.
• Provide care for the population served in the department.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with an Associate's degree or diploma preferred.
• Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred.
• National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Registration as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Health Career Association.
