About the position

The Medical Assistant/Secretary position at NHMP Women's Wellness in Norwalk, CT, is a full-time role that provides both clinical and clerical support to ensure smooth daily operations in the medical practice. The role involves direct patient interaction, managing patient information, and assisting with various medical tasks to maintain efficient patient flow and care.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and brings patients from the waiting room to the clinical area, obtaining vital signs as required.
  • Registers and updates patient information, billing physician charges to patients' accounts, and verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Provides clerical and secretarial work associated with patient care, including copying and dictation, and prepares, files, and organizes patient charts.
  • Schedules appointments for patients in the office, for testing, or with other physicians as ordered.
  • Ensures the examination area is clean and stocked, and that patients are properly prepared for their scheduled visits.
  • Conducts in-office testing as directed by the physician and coordinates testing and outside ancillary services as applicable.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the physician.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies, filling out appropriate logs.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Maintains and models Nuvance Health values and demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • New or experienced graduate of Medical Assistant program, Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years job-related experience in a medical office.
  • Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
  • Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
