About the position
The Medical Assistant position at Austin Regional Clinic involves supporting provider practice by assisting with direct patient care duties under the supervision of nursing leadership. Responsibilities
- Room patients and document vital signs.
- Administer medication under physician's direction.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as EKGs and spirometry.
- Review and assist with medication refill requests.
- Handle patient callbacks and inform them of lab results.
- Ensure patient rooms are stocked and clean.
- Answer incoming phone calls and determine acuity of calls.
- Assist providers with procedures and maintain equipment.
- Post patient test results through the mychart portal.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, EMT, or PCT providing direct patient care.
- Ability to administer medications and injections within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months or more experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
