The Medical Assistant (MA) position at Banner Health in Tucson, Arizona, is a full-time role dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in the OBGYN department. The MA will play a crucial role in assisting clinicians and nursing staff in delivering medical care, implementing, and evaluating direct patient care. This position requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to ensure an excellent patient experience. The MA will be responsible for rooming patients, completing intakes, setting up, assisting, and managing post-procedure workflows. Administrative tasks such as handling messages, paperwork, prior authorizations, FMLA, chart preparation, and clinic assignments will also be part of the role. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, allowing for a consistent work-life balance. In this role, the MA will prepare patients for exams and treatments by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements. They will assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, which may include taking blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate, performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs. The MA will also coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for various medical treatments and tests. Communication with patients regarding test results and acting as a resource for clinicians to provide optimal patient care is essential. The MA will maintain a clean and functional environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and exam rooms, and will be responsible for ordering supplies and managing medication tasks. Effective communication with all external and internal customers is vital, and the MA will exemplify service orientation and teamwork in all interactions. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers and interacts with various levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts concerning patient health care. The MA will prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
